I suppose to make this little experiment official I’ll need to weigh in and post some numbers to reference back to when measuring progress. Not totally sure all the angles to measure because when looking for millimeters of growth there are so many factors to take into account. Cold day, stages of arousal, ect. What I’ve decided on for now is to take monthly pictures to chart growth and to keep track of my forced erect coverage (FEC).
What’s that you say?
- Step 1: Get an erection.
- Step 2: Push foreskin forward
- Step 3: Measure the amount of dick head still exposed.
- Step 4: Chart
So as of May 10, my FEC weighs in at a hefty 27mm exposure. Well that doesn’t give you much of an idea of what I’m working with here, but hopefully this chart I’m linking to (NSFW) will explain things better as they have kindly classified foreskin coverage into categories from CI 1 – CI 10 (CI = Coverage Index). I’d put myself somewhere between CI 3 and CI 4 and I’m hoping to reach CI 7 in the end so there’s full unassisted coverage.
From what I’ve read so far, the first 2 months are full of perceived progress because your skin is getting its elasticity back and what looks like new growth is just what you’ve always had but coming back to its old springy self. Then from there it’s slow going, but persistence eventually pays off.
If anyone reading can share where they started to where they are now and the amount of time and effort it took, I’d love to hear it.
In the meantime, wish me luck!
L.D,
I cannot offer a progress comparison because I am intact. However, it may be useful for you to know that my cock is a natural CI-7, so your CI-7 goal seems to me to be just right as nature intended. You are traveling a worthy path, I wish you patience and steady progress.
L.D.,
You asked for suggestions or additions to the measurement protocol that you have shared in your posting. I am an expert in biostatistics with particular credentials in measurement, so please allow me to weigh in with a few suggestions, made in no particular order.
1. I suggest that your re-measurement sessions occur at regular and fixed intervals on the calendar and clock, and that the data be recorded in a notebook for data entry into a spreadsheet such as Exel. Document your protocol, any changes made after the first data are collected, and document any protocol violations as your data collection progresses in this permanent record of your restoration study.
2. I suggest that because you are between CI-3 and 4, and your corona is covered when your penis is flaccid, please collect flaccid as well as erect measurements. You are only going to go through this experience once, and because (if you are like me) your penis spends most of its time flaccid, this additional data may prove interesting or even valuable and you are only going to have this one chance to collect the series. The relation between the two measurement parameters, flaccid series and erect series, can be valuable scientific information.
3. I suggest that at each measurement session you repeat your FEC or any other measurement exactly three times and record all three for later analysis. The arithmetic mean of the three will later be the representative score for that parameter (flaccid or erect) for that session/day. This number, three, is not arbitrarily chosen, it has been established in biostatistics as an optimum that reduces error variance as much as possible with the least measurement effort. Two is not enough; four goes past the point of diminishing returns for data quality. The mean of three re-measurements is a standard for National Institutes of Health funded clinical research.
4. Finally, and more casually regarding biostatistics, I suggest that each CI milestone be recognized by you as the attainment of an intermediate goal achieved. In medical research we have the phenomena of “mid-study slump” where the data collection has become routine and people get bored and slack off. Quality suffers, research staff jumps ship, etc. I think that your recognizing the achievement of intermediate goals will help motivate you to continue ‘on task’ and substantially improve the likelihood of ultimately reach your CI-7 goal.
This list is just off the top of my head. I am gladly available to you for further consultation, at your discretion. As is said (Fr.): _Bon chance_.
Wow, for an intact guy, you sure know a lot about foreskin restoration. I appreciate the advice, thank you! It’s great to get this stuff figured out in the beginning so there’s a consistent history of data to go over in the future.
I’ll be sure to collect the other points you mentioned and stay aware of the mid-study slump if I ever get discouraged.
My husband started somewhere between a C-0 and C-1 and is now a C-2, nearly a C-3. There is already a HUGE difference from my womanly point of view 😉
Sex is no longer painful (for me) and he has gained a 3/4 of an inch in length which makes him very happy.
He’s manually restoring without a device but occasionally uses these:

Which work as tuggers for him since he has very little skin to work with.
He is slowly restoring which means about 30 mins a couple times a week, sometimes less. He started about 4 months ago.
That’s nice to hear how much of an improvement it’s had in your relationship. The baby bottle nipple is also a clever idea. Interesting to see the different ideas floating around when it comes to restoration.
Good luck! It sounds like you are on the road to regaining your foreskin.
I started out with about a CO-2, flaccid. I also had tight erections. I had almost full flaccid coverage most of the time after a year of manual tugging. Now after almost 3 years of tugging I wear a retainer only at night (for nocturnal erections). See http://www.restoringtally.com/blog-tag/retainer
I blogged about measuring progress. You may want to check out the different methods. I found I measured progress differently at different stages and for the last year and a half I do not measure. About every month or two I notice a difference in my penis and foreskin. That is enough to keep me motivated and confirm that my skin is still growing.

Interesting chart. My intact husband would be about a CI-4 – but at any given time depending, on body temp or air temp he could have near full coverage or practically none when flaccid.
L.D.,
I’ve been restoring off and on for about 27 months now. My first year and a half was more of a learning experience and trying to find what would work for me. I’ve recently been trying to stay committed and consistent, at times it can be frustrating and disappointing.
I started at about a CI-2 and I think I’m somewhere around a CI-3 – 3.5. When I am completely flaccid all of my shaft skin and remaining inner skin bunches up behind my corona but hasn’t begun to cover the corona on it’s own. If I’m wearing the right type of underwear I may get some spontaneous rollover but that’s all.
I began with manual tugging, then a skin cone and packer. I eventually got a DTR and DTR deep pusher and now use the Reverse Tape Method (RTM). I’ve found RTM to be the most comfortable and convenient way to restore. I can sort of set it and forget it. I can use the bathroom without worrying about the device coming off.
I’m still building my comfort level with RTM and being able to leave it on for longer periods of time. I’m currently taped for about 4 hours a day either every day or every other day and I mix it up with at least 1-2 hours of DTR use every day or every other day and LOTS of manual tugging whenever I can throughout the day.
Progress is extremely but I know if I stay consistent I’ll one day have my foreskin (somewhat) back.
Kudos to you! Keep on tugging!
